South West Scotland Community Rail Partnership

Delivering outcomes that benefit users of the railway and the wider community

Working with young people on a range of educational projects

The South West Scotland Community Rail Partnership has, under our previous name, worked with schools in both Dumfries & Galloway and Ayrshire with projects such as the 130th anniversary celebration of the Ayr to Stranraer line when local schoolchildren and their teachers in Girvan and Stranraer travelled to each others' schools by train in Victorian costume. The event, which spanned two local authorities, was a huge success.

The Partnership also plans to offer resources to schools in our area outlining not only the importance of the railway to local economic development, but the importance of railways in general as an environmentally sustainable form of travel. In addition, we aim to work with our key partners to deliver railway safety messages to young people.
