LATEST NEWS: The South West Scotland Community Rail Partnership has appointed Dr Belle Doyle as its new Development Manager. Belle, from Dumfries, previously worked for the University of the West of Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway Council as Film Locations Officer. ScotRail has announced new routes now offering Flexipass ticketing as Glasgow-Stranraer and Kilmarnock-Ayr-Girvan. / Track Renewal Works: Track renewal works will take place between Kilmarnock and Dumfries on the following Sundays: August 20th and 27th. Buses will replace trains between Kilmarnock and Dumfries on these days. ScotRail has also announced that early morning and late evening services will be affected by further track renewal work between Kilmarnock and Carlisle from Monday, August 28th and Friday, September 1st. / Plans to reopen stations at Thornhill and Eastriggs near Annan have received STAG (Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance) 1 approval. / Ayr’s iconic Station Hotel, a Listed Building dating from 1885, could face demolition unless at least £10m can be found to make the derelict building safe according to reports in The Ayrshire Post. /

The Ayr & District Flower Show will take place at Ayr Racecourse on Friday August 18th and Saturday 19th. The Show is being organised by a new group this year after the Ayrshire Horticultural Association had decided in March that, after many years, the show would be cancelled. Read more.

Stranraer Oyster Festival: Stranraer is set to be the location for Scotland’s first Oyster Festival which takes place in the town from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th September. Read more.

You will be kept informed about projects and campaigns we are running, opportunities to volunteer in a wide range of projects and you will be able to help shape the organisation by voting at the Annual General Meeting where you can also put yourself forward for election to a Board position on the Board of Directors. Community Rail Partnerships (CRPs) were first established in England in the early 1990s as part of a UK government initiative to involve local people in the development and running of local and rural routes, services and stations. We were the first in Scotland to become a designated CRP in 2014 under our former name.
